This Privacy Policy describes how AliBaba Data Extractor ("the Extension") handles your information. Your privacy is critically important to us, and we operate under a principle of data minimization and local processing.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Unlike many other extensions, AliBaba Data Extractor does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to our servers or any third parties. We do not have a backend database to store your scraped product or supplier information.

• No Personal Data: We do not collect your name, email address (unless you contact us for support), or payment information.
• No Browsing History: We do not track your browsing history or monitor your activities on any websites other than AliBaba.com.
• No External Transmission: We do not see the products you scrape or the data you export. All processing happens locally.

2. Data Processing and Local Storage

All data extraction and processing occur locally on your machine. The data you scrape from AliBaba.com is handled as follows:

• Local Memory: Scraped data is kept in your browser's active memory while you use the extension.
• Chrome Local Storage: If you use the "Saved" feature to shortlist products or suppliers, that data is stored locally in your browser's internal storage (chrome.storage.local). This data stays on your computer and is never uploaded to the cloud.
• File Exports: When you export to Excel, CSV, or JSON, the file is generated directly in your browser and saved to your local downloads folder using standard web technologies.
• Remote Configuration: The extension occasionally fetches a public configuration file from GitHub to stay compatible with website changes. This file contains only CSS selectors and does not transmit any user data.

3. Permissions Justification

The Extension requires the following permissions to function:

• activeTab: Used to temporarily access the AliBaba page you are currently viewing to read product and supplier content only when you click "Scrape".
• storage: Essential for caching your scraped results and maintaining your "Saved" items so your work is not lost when you close the browser.
• sidePanel: Provides a persistent side‑by‑side interface, allowing you to browse AliBaba while managing your data in real-time.
• alarms: Used to periodically check for updated remote configuration from GitHub, ensuring the extension stays functional even if AliBaba changes its layout.
• scripting: Required to execute the scraping logic within the context of the AliBaba web page to collect product data, supplier profiles, and search results.
• downloads: Allows you to save your research as Excel, CSV, or JSON files – essential for offline analysis and reporting.

4. Host Permissions

• AliBaba.com: The extension only accesses AliBaba pages (*.alibaba.com) to extract publicly visible product and supplier information.
• GitHub raw: The extension fetches a public JSON file from GitHub containing CSS selectors. No user data is ever sent to GitHub – only a read‑only request for the config file.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. All scraping and file generation (Excel/CSV) are performed locally using internal libraries.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
