Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 26, 2024 (v1.2.0)
This Privacy Policy explains how Twitter X, Facebook & WhatsApp Voice Transcriber handles user data. Our extension is built on a "Privacy-by-Design" philosophy.
1. Data Collection & Transient Processing
The Extension handles the following data types locally and transiently:
- Audio Data: When you click "Transcribe," the extension captures the audio stream of that specific voice message. This data is processed in real-time. It is never stored, logged, or archived by the developer or the proxy server.
- Personal Communications: The extension accesses voice message content solely to provide the transcription service. All transcriptions are displayed only within your local browser session.
- Local Configuration: We store your API keys and UI preferences (such as the "What's New" acknowledgment) locally on your device using
chrome.storage.
2. Third-Party Data Handling
To provide AI services, data is transmitted to the following endpoints based on your configuration:
- Google Gemini (via Vercel Proxy): Audio data is sent for transcription when using the Free Tier. The proxy acts as a secure pass-through and does not retain any data.
- AssemblyAI, OpenAI, or Deepgram: Data is sent directly to these providers if you use a personal API key.
- Google Translate: Text is sent for translation only if you enable the translation feature.
3. Permissions & Security
- Host Permissions: Access is limited to WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Twitter (X) to detect and transcribe voice messages.
- No Tracking: We do not use cookies, analytics, or any tracking scripts to monitor user behavior.
4. User Control
You have full control over your data. You can clear your transcription history by refreshing the page and delete all settings by uninstalling the extension.
